The public record of L. Lin Wood Jr. has two long movements. The first is reputation law: Richard Jewell after the 1996 Olympic Park bombing; John and Patsy Ramsey, and later Burke Ramsey; Nicholas Sandmann after the Lincoln Memorial video. Those chapters cite the dockets and the settlements. Wood’s 2014 interview described the work as representing “clients who he believes are victims or underdogs,” and as seeking “accountability for genuine wrongdoing.”
The second movement is the 2020 election. He put his own name on Georgia complaints. He spoke for President Trump’s challenges in public. The courts denied the relief he asked. Michigan later sanctioned a caption that carried his name; he said he had not drafted that complaint. In July 2023 he transferred the Georgia license to retired status rather than finish the bar cases. Those facts are already written, with cites, in the election and license chapters. They are not omitted to make a cleaner story.
On September 20, 2023, Fulton County prosecutors listed “L. Lin Wood” as a witness for the State in the Georgia election case. He was not a defendant. A special-purpose grand jury had recommended an indictment; District Attorney Fani Willis did not charge him. He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “I didn’t flip on President Trump. That’s just pure nonsense.” And: “I wouldn’t have any knowledge to flip on him.” NBC News quoted a Telegram post the same day: “I support President Trump 117%!” and “I have no idea why I was subpoenaed by the DA.” He said he would “speak the TRUTH” and had “NO knowledge of TRUTH that can be used in any way against President Trump.”
Associated Press, in the July 2023 retirement story, recorded a separate Georgia Secretary of State inquiry into where Wood had lived when he voted in 2020. AP wrote that officials later ruled he did not violate Georgia election laws. That is the state’s own close of that file, as AP reported it.
